The College of Saint Mary athletic director Robbie Shay has announced they are partnering with Bechler Leadership in its’ search for a new women’s basketball coach.
“We believe there’s a lot of potential here,” said Shay. “With our revamped scholarships, first-class facilities, and beautiful location we wanted to maximize the opportunities available to us to get the right coach in place. Bechler Leadership has had great results filling positions at other schools and we’re excited to work with their team.”
Shay is in his first season leading the Flames athletic department. He has a long track record of coaching basketball and serving in administration at the NAIA level.
Bechler Leadership works with athletes and coaches to develop positive leaders, stronger cultures, and build better teams. The company was founded by Jamy Bechler in 2017.
“We’ve been helping athletic departments and teams in the area of culture, teamwork, and leadership but that task is made easier if the right coach is hired in the first place,” said Bechler. “Having the right coach makes all the difference when it comes to developing, influencing, and mentoring student-athletes. We like that the College of Saint Mary is committed to finding the right individual to help student-athletes realize their potential and foster a positive environment of growth.”
Bechler is a former college basketball coach and high school athletic director. He is the author of five books, hosts the “Success is a Choice” podcast, and developed TheLeadershipPlaybook.com online program.

The College of Saint Mary competes in the prestigious Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), which is an affiliated conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The Catholic all women’s college is home to 11 varsity sports and the state-of-the-art $18 million Lied Fitness Center, which opened in August 2021.
