Through the years, I have seen this quote posted on social media and referred to quite often. Most of the time, it is used as motivation or justification for fighting for a cause.
Though it is important for us to champion a cause, we also must realize that there are 2️⃣ parts to this quote!
It’s not just enough to fight for what we believe in.
We should be WISE in how we do it. If we offend people, alienate people. demean people, marginalize people, or belittle people, why would they come over to our side?
It’s said that knowledge is power. However, how we use that power is wisdom.
Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing that it doesn’t go into a fruit salad.
We might be knowledgeable. We might be smart. We might be right … but we might be DEAD RIGHT.
Anyone can become knowledgeable about a topic through research but that doesn’t mean the person knows how to use that information.
If we truly want unity. If we truly want others to see our point of view, then we can’t turn them off.
GIVE THEM A REASON TO LISTEN TO WHAT WE ARE SAYING.
Connecting with others, loving on others, and seeing other people’s points of view is the first step toward getting others to join us.
