This weekend is special for me.

December 10, 1943 was my dad’s birthday.

Even though he is no longer here physically, not a day goes by that I don’t think of him. His impact on me has been what you’d hope a dad’s impact would be.

My small Michigan high school had a great deal of success on both the gridiron and the hard courts.

Jonesville High School had some really good athletes that played both sports but we also had two great head coaches … Bill Dunn in basketball and Greg Morrison in football.

Because my mother wouldn’t allow me to play football … why mom why?!?😀 … I was one of the few players on my high school basketball team that didn’t also play football.

The Class Assignment

“A life isn’t significant except for its impact on other lives.” (Jackie Robinson)

When I was in middle school, I had a friend named Bill.

We would go over to each other’s house and play GI Joe or football in the backyard.

We were in a class together that required a partner assignment. Bill and I put a lot of work into that assignment. We thought we had something good. When the grades were given, I got an “A” and Bill got an “F”.

Teacher’s Pet

Believe it or not, I was voted “Teacher’s Pet” in my graduating class. To this day, I don’t know how that was the case. Regardless of whether I agreed with it, I had to take a yearbook picture with Judith Shannon, my dreaded English teacher.
