What kind of energy are you bringing today?

 

The Jonestown Eagles have talent, but talent alone isn't enough. They run the same courses, wear the same uniform, and compete for the same team-but they haven't yet learned how much their attitude, effort, encouragement, and communication affect everyone around them.

 

That begins to change after Coach Dennis takes the team on an unusual field trip to a local auto-parts store.

 

There, the runners learn about one small but essential part of an engine: the spark plug.

 

It isn't the biggest part. It isn't the most expensive. But without a spark, all that horsepower and potential can sit there doing nothing.

 

Soon, one runner begins asking himself a simple question before every practice:

 

What am I bringing today?

 

His example starts to spread.

 

Through hard workouts, hills, self-doubt, setbacks, quiet encouragement, and a challenging championship race, the Eagles discover that leadership doesn't always have to be loud. Every athlete can provide a spark-through enthusiasm, useful information, timely reminders, encouragement, and consistent effort.

 

Along the way, they learn to outwork their talent, finish strong, and win the next step.
