3 Ways to be a Verbal Leader

They may take our lives . . . BUT THEY’LL NEVER TAKE OUR FREEDOM!!!

Most of the time when we think of verbal leadership, we think of Hollywood speeches with the hero inspiring countless individuals to follow him into battle like the movies Braveheart, Gladiator, or 300.

We also might think of Tim Tebow giving the “Promise” speech and then backing it up on the way to a national championship.

We may not be Michael Jordan, Tim Tebow, Kobe Bryant, or William Wallace in Braveheart, but we all can be verbal leaders.

In fact, as long as we have a tongue, we should be verbal leaders.

Let me say that again for the people in the back…

Not only can we all be verbal leaders but we all should be verbal leaders.

10 Things All Athletes Can Do

Every athlete has a different skillset and level of athletic ability. Not every player will have the natural talent of a Lebron James, Serena Williams, Lamar Jackson, or Maya Moore. But for every all-world player that makes it, there are countless others that had the talent but lacked the intangibles. Talent can only take an athlete so far. In fact, talent doesn’t equal good. The extra stuff can take a talented athlete and make them good. Likewise, there are plenty of athletes that have limited talent but have excelled at the intangibles, leading to success and them becoming valuable members of their team. Talent is only a starting point. No matter how much or how little talent an athlete has, here are 10 things that every athlete can do.

When Preparation Meets Opportunity

You’ve probably heard of guys like Tom Brady, Joe Montana, John Elway, Terry Bradshaw, and Peyton Manning. These are some of the best quarterbacks in the history of the National Football League. But none of them – or anyone else for that matter – has ever done what Ryan Fitzpatrick has accomplished through the first 3 weeks of the NFL season. Ryan Fitzpatrick (“FitzMagic” as he is known) has thrown for more than 400 yards in all three games. No NFL quarterback has ever thrown for 400 yards in three straight games. Ever!

LOL Chicago Bulls Part 2

“Discipline yourself and others won’t need to.” (John Wooden)
“He who angers you, controls you.” (Elizabeth Kenny)

The 2017-18 NBA Season is still a day away for the Chicago Bulls but you are probably already laughing out loud and shaking your head about ‘da Bulls.

But the LOL I am referring to is a LACK OF LEADERSHIP.

It’s deja vu all over again. I wrote about the Chicago Bulls last season and their lack of leadership. I pointed out how the star players were not leading like they should. I still believe 100% that was the case.

Now we have a Chicago Bulls power forward punching another Chicago Bulls power forward. Nikola Mirotic is in the hospital with a concussion and a broken face as a result of teammate Bobby Portis’ punch.

Stupid is…as Stupid does

Athletes doing immature or stupid things give other athletes a bad name.  The following athletes did things this week (originally published on July 31, 2012) that make you go hhhmmmm and shake your head.  There are also lots of links to other articles about these topics to further entertain you.  In honor of the huge event starting up this week – NFL Training Camp – we will highlight a trio of diva wide receivers.  Oh, and for the other minor event starting up this week, we’ll lead off with an Olympian.
