Episode 093: FitMama Jen Oliver

Jen Oliver is the founder and CEO of FitMama Global, a mindset based coaching movement whose purpose is to educate, empower, and motivate moms to be stronger and healthier than ever, after having kids. She is also the author of the international best-seller, “The Love Fit Mama Way: Transforming the Core of Motherhood.”

Jen is a certified Bellies Inc. trainer, and has a master’s degree in Exercise and Health Psychology at McMaster University. She is a sought-after speaker throughout Canada, and is the host of the popular podcast, Kaizen with Jen. She is also a nutritionist, fitness instructor, and personal management consultant.

Episode 063: Travis Daugherty, Sports Parenting Author and Basketball Coach

Travis Daugherty is the author of “The Lens: Raising a Champion Athlete and Man in Today’s Myopic World”. He is also the head boys basketball coach at Mt. Vernon High School in Fortville, Indiana.  Entering the 2017-18 season, he has a career record of 172-122 in 13 seasons as a head coach. Daugherty’s head coaching career started at Tipton High School from 2004-2009, where his teams won back-to-back sectional and conference championships. In 2008, he received the Indiana Basketball Coach’s Association Bob King Coach of the Year award.  From 2009-2013, Travis served as the Head Coach at Bishop Chatard High School in Indianapolis, and he started at Mt. Vernon in 2013-14.  He won a state championship for Alexandria-Monroe H.S. and then went on to have a stellar collegiate career at Anderson University. In addition to coaching responsibilities, Travis also serves as a high school English teacher at Mt. Vernon.  His most important job in life is his role as a husband and father.  He and his wife, Jessica, were married in 2003 and have three children:  Aden, Owen, and Leah.

Shawn Silman is the Dean of Liberal Arts at San Jacinto College, which is located in Houston, Texas. Prior to becoming the Dean in 2011, he served for 6 years as San Jacinto’s Athletic Director and 11 years as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at San Jacinto.

Episode 022: The Super Coach Micheal Burt

Micheal Burt is known as “The Super Coach,” for his unique blend of being a former championship coach who has an entrepreneurial mindset. He has authored 12 books, including the best-seller Zebra and Cheetahs, as well as his newest book Everybody Needs a Coach in Life. As a basketball coach, Burt won 221 games in a nine-year period, including the school’s first-ever State Championship. He now speaks, coaches, trains, and leads some of the top companies in the world. Episode 027: Rusty Kennedy

Rusty Kennedy arrived at Midway University as the Athletic Director in January 2016.  Kennedy has been responsible for overseeing the dramatic changes that have taken place within the athletic department.  Within the span of a mere three months the university went from single gender to co-educational as well as adding six new sports, four of those the first male sports in school history, while growing the number of athletes from 92 in the Spring of 2016 and 260 to the Fall of 2016 to 340 in the Fall of 2017.  For his efforts his peers voted him 2016-2017 River States Conference Athletic Director of the Year.  The Fall of 2017 has also seen the addition of three more sports which has brought the total number to 17.  Rusty came to Midway with 18 years of experience as a Coach, Instructor and Athletic Administer at the NAIA, NCAA, and NJCAA levels.  Most recently he was the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at NCAA Division II member Western New Mexico University in Silver City, NM.  Kennedy has also held various positions at Oklahoma Wesleyan University, Central Baptist College, Bacone College, Clarendon College, North Arkansas College and Our Lady of the Lake University.
